Meet Polly Poulengeris Hadjisavva

Naturopath, ND
Homeopath, HD
B.Sc., M.Sc. Medical Psychology MBPsS

Polly Poulengeris Hadjisavva studied naturopathy and homeopathy at the Alternative Medicine College of Canada and is continuing her clinical studies at the School of Homeopathy, UK. She is also registered with the American Alternative Medical Association (AAMA) and the Cyprus Association of Alternative Therapists (CAAT).  The journey in studying Natural Medicine however, started more than four decades ago, in the UK.

Growing up in London, Polly originally studied Psychology at the Universities of Surrey and Sussex, and also works as a psychotherapist. Polly is passionate about natural healing and helping people in their quest for restoring strong and complete health.

Natural medicine may support the body in its natural endeavour to restore health and equilibrium and in accordance with Hippocrates, natural medicine adheres to the ideal of ‘First do no Harm’. The goal at Natural Healing is to support your body's efforts to regain its health and strength.  A guiding principle, is non-exploitation of the patient's need to become healthy again. Health education and guidance is the paramount backbone of the health consultation. This is why the first consultation takes into account a detailed history, which may have led to the present health situation.

As Paracelsus said, a Swiss Physician living in the 16th century: ‘The noblest foundation for medicine is love. It is love, which teaches us the art of healing. Without love, true healing cannot be born’.

Why Naturopathy

Why Naturopathy?

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy approaches health problems using natural means to try and support the body to recover from illness or other health problems. Hippocrates, the father of medicine said, "Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food". Vitamins, trace elements, enzymes, and other nutrients found in our foods have very powerful health - giving properties. Medicinal herbs, plant based medicines, and homeopathy are all very important and are used in a naturopathic approach. Naturopathy can complement and enhance conventional medical and pharmacological approaches. All aspects of the patient illness, lifestyle, and psychology are taken into account, thus comprising a holistic approach to the patient. Emphasis is also given to health education and guidance for long-lasting healing benefits.

What are the benefits of Naturopathy?

Naturopathic approaches do not make the use of pharmaceutical drugs and medicines, which may lead to harsh and undesirable side effects. The holistic approach to the patient means that he or she spends more time with the Naturopath who will take a detailed history covering many areas of the patient's lifestyle as well as a history of their health problems. Emphasis is also given to health education for long lasting benefits.

Who can consult a Naturopath?

Any person usually over 12 years old may consult a naturopath. For people who are already dependent on a variety of medical drugs, natural approaches will need to take this into account, often supplementing the patient’s existent medication with natural approaches. The aim is to maximise the therapeutic outcome.

Why Naturopathy?

Increasingly more people wish to avoid pharmaceutical drugs and medicines because side effects can sometimes be long lasting and dangerous. In addition, Naturopaths approach a patient holistically, taking many factors into account. Natural medicine adopts approaches based on natural and less invasive methods such as changes in nutrition, herbalism, aromatherapy, homeopathy all aimed at supporting the body in its natural endeavour to restore health.

What training do Naturopaths, NDs have?

Naturopaths graduate from accredited naturopathic medical schools. In order to practice, naturopaths should be a member of an accepted naturopathic association. NDs complete detailed courses in human anatomy and physiology, training in clinical nutrition, botanical medicine and herbalism, aromatherapy, detoxification methods, as well as counselling. Before qualifying, naturopaths have to submit a number of in-depth real case studies where naturopathy has been used to address the patient's health issue(s).

Testimonials

For the last three years I have suffered with chronic pain in my knees and elbows. After a consultation with Polly Hadjisavva, she analysed my problems and researched possible natural therapies, including Gemmotherapy and other remedies. I followed her advice, changed my diet, used the natural remedies and began to lose weight which helped to take pressure off my knees especially. It took several months but gradually, I began to feel a definite improvement. I am so grateful for Polly's interest, care, input, support and recommendations. Her naturopathic remedies have happily given me a new lease of life.
